IMPORTANT TRASH,RECYCLING AND BRUSH PICK UP INFORMATION:
Please remember that trash cans should not be placed to the curb for pick up earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before.
BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2019 there will be a change in the zones for pickup of Trash, Recycling and Brush. The Borough will be moving from three (3) zones to two (2) zones for all pickups.
Zone 1 will have Trash pickup Monday and Thursday and Zone 2 will have Trash pickup Tuesday and Friday.
Recycling pickup for Zone 1 will begin on Wednesday January 2nd and will occur every other Wednesday after that. Zone 2 recycling pick up will begin January 9th and will occur every other Wednesday after that.
Please refer to the new brush pick up schedule attached as this is where the biggest change will occur. In general residents in Zone 1 will be permitted to place brush to the curb beginning the 1st full week of each month thru the 2nd Wednesday of the month, and residents in Zone 2 will be permitted to place brush to the curb beginning the 3rd full week of the month thru the 4th Wednesday of each month. The specific dates for each month are set forth in the schedule here (pdf).
IMPORTANT RECYCLING INFORMATION
Plastic bags of any type are no longer allowed in with recycling materials. This applies to both curbside pickup and drop off at the Public Works yard. Recycling materials are to be placed loose in all recycling containers or dumpsters. Plastic bags cause delays and jams of the sorting machines during processing. If plastic bags are found in any recycling load taken to the County site for disposal, the entire recycling load will be rejected at significant cost to the Borough.
If plastic bags continue to appear in the dumpsters at the Public Works yard the Borough may be forced to close the recycling area Monday thru Friday, leaving only Saturday hours available, along with your regularly scheduled curbside pickup.
Everyone’s cooperation is sincerely appreciated.
